A nice re telling of the classic story of Demeter and Persephone A mother s love and devotion managed to make a bad situation a whole lot easier for all

I found this book to be incredibly meh, both in storytelling and in illustration Now, this book is meant for children, so I certainly didn t expect any steamy stuff, but I ve seen several children s books which explored the myth very well without getting into THAT sort of thing Hades is barely mentioned here, and his kidnapping seems like an afterthought...

  3. says:

Skilled retelling of the myth and the book design makes it feel mature, yet non intimidating Recommended for grades 4 6, younger if already familiar with Greek myths.

  4. says:

Excellent retelling of the myth for younger readers Illustrations are wonderful

  5. says:

This was a great transitional reader book I would definitely recommend this for the study of great mythology, at an introductory level I would also use this to read out loud in the classroom if we were studying Greek mythology at a beginner level.

  6. says:

Great introduction to these classic myths for young readers with wonderful illustrations Will help young readers understand the stories, characters and their connections while the illustrations add color and tie it all together.

  7. says:

This is one of my favorite Greek myth stories and it is wonderfully redone in this book.To the 3rd graders, I had to explain how this myth is how the seasons came to be.
